Caryn Mortimer

Lead Podiatrist & Director

Caryn graduated from the Chelsea School of Podiatry in 1992 with a BSC (Hons) in Podiatric Medicine. Prior to this she worked in public relations in the City of London when she was involved in the launch of the London Marathon, The Big Issue, E45 Cream amongst many other world renowned products and events. She was made redundant from this career at 28 and had a rethink.

Her great grandfather was an army medic dealing with foot injuries and was her inspiration to becoming a Podiatrist. After graduating Caryn started working for the NHS and has been a lead podiatrist specialising in many of the fields of podiatry throughout her 25-year career. Her expertise includes those patients with a high-risk foot including patients with diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. She also led an NHS service dealing with biomechanics and musculoskeletal problems that affect children, adults and sports enthusiasts, manufacturing and prescribing orthoses to manage their conditions.

For the past 15 years she has been the lead podiatrist for Nail Surgery within her team at the NHS and has an unsurpassed level of expertise in this particular field. She currently teaches and mentors students of podiatry from the University of East London in this particular aspect of Podiatric Medicine.

She started the Bexley Foot Clinic in 1999 and has built the practice alongside her NHS career with a caring, enthusiastic and engaging approach. She firmly believes via education and encouragement of a person’s own engagement in their foot health, that this can lead to an overall improvement in a persons general health and sense of wellbeing.
