Treatment

Sports Injuries & Biomechanics

At the Bexley Foot Clinic a Podiatrist will assess the biomechanical function of the foot and lower limb and treat abnormalities and malfunction. They will also look at factors such as stability, body posture and other musculoskeletal factors. We will take into account the type of sport, levels of activity, age of patient and provide advice on what the patient can do for themselves, such as stretching and strengthening exercises.

We may suggest orthoses to correct postural mal-alignment of the foot, ankle and lower limbs. They are an effective treatment for abnormal function of the feet during the gait cycle and sports, which may be a custom made device or off the shelf product.

We may also suggest a course of painless ultrasound treatment to the affected area to assist in soft tissue healing along with strapping techniques to stabilize the foot.
